Working within the constraints of a 16 × 16 pixel grid with an unusual 1:2 ratio, Frutiger produced letterforms that retained the open counters and clarity of his humanist approach while incorporating pixel-specific adaptations—light traps, slab endings, and pixelated teardrop shapes—to counter screen bleed and enhance legibility.
